Your Fastenings!

Bottom Edge Plate

Wooden windows typically have a bottom edge plate for water drainage. The muntin is attached there using a steel clip that hooks into the edge between the plate and the glass. This eliminates the need to drill and nail a regular clip, which could risk water seepage into the nail hole and potentially damage the window.

Guide Hole

Older windows sometimes have a hole centered in the plate where you can use our guide pin instead. If you have plastic or aluminum windows, the bottom edge plate is usually completely absent, so regular clips are mounted even at the bottom.

Bottom Edge Fastening

Bottom edge fastening comes in various designs. A regular clip is commonly used for windows clad in plastic or aluminum where the bottom edge plate is absent. The bottom edge plate is typically used for wooden windows with an aluminum strip at the bottom, where this clip is hooked. A guide pin is often present on older windows, fitting into a hole in the aluminum strip. If you have your own solution, you can choose without fastening.
